Superintendent

Charlottesville, Virginia

Description

We have an opening for an energetic and focused individual to join our team as a Superintendent. The Superintendent is the onsite leader that oversees field operations in alignment with Alexander Nicholson’s core values assuring that projects are completed on-time, within budget, while providing an exceptional experience for our clients.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Participate and engage with project manager to create and manage the budget

• Participate and engage with project manager to create and manage the project schedule.

• Participate with project manager to do weekly financial forecasts and jobsite huddles.

• Attend and be an active participant in monthly company huddles, weekly Alexander Nicholson staff meetings, and other company events.

• Maintain a safe and clean job environment

• Be an active participant in making the project successful

• Ensure all employees and subcontractors are operating safely

• Stay current with OSHA 10hr course and first aid certification

• Be an active participant in training of field personnel.

• Actively participate in finding and securing new projects

• Work collaboratively with Project Manager

• Manage and maintain high quality Architect, Client, and subcontractor relationships

• Attend and be an active participant in weekly project meetings

• Actively participate in recruiting field personnel

• Execute accurate and timely invoicing, timesheets, and any additional payroll items

• Ensure that building is built RIGHT!!

• Address and resolve warranty items for previous clients in an expedient manner

• Schedule subcontractors, coordinate material deliveries and receipt of special order items

• Keep a daily log of weather, subcontractors present, general job activities.

• Assist project manager with review project submittals and shop drawings and secure design professional approvals

• Perform building layout and elevations.

• Perform carpentry activities when not performing other items listed in job description

• Understand and know how to research building code requirements.

• Other duties or activities that may be required to accomplish the job purpose

Qualifications and Experience:

• B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field position or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• At least 5-7 years of industry experience, preferably in general contracting.

• OSHA 30, First Aid, CPR, and USACE QC Certifications

• Extensive experience and knowledge of Construction estimating, means and methods, document administration, and a thorough understanding of industry practices.

• Application of LEED certifications is preferred.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

• Previous experience managing employees preferred.

Project Manager

We have an opening for an energetic and focused individual to join our team as a Project Manager. The Project Manager leads a team in alignment with Alexander Nicholson’s core values bringing together the resources and information required to complete projects on-time, within budget, while providing an exceptional experience for our clients.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Participate and engage with superintendent to create and manage the budget

• Participate and engage with superintendent to create and manage the project schedule.

• Participate with project superintendent to do weekly financial forecasts and jobsite huddles.

• Attend and be an active participant in monthly company huddles, weekly staff meetings, and other company events.

• Be an active participant in making the project successful

• Lead and collaborate with project superintendent

• Manage and maintain high quality Architect, Client, and subcontractor relationships

• Actively participate in finding and securing new projects

• Responsible for scheduling and leading weekly project meetings

• Actively participate in recruiting personnel

• Execute accurate and timely invoicing, timesheets, and any additional payroll items

• Affectively look forward in scheduling to ensure project flow.

• Ensure that building is built correctly.

• Order special order items.

• Write contracts.

• Responsible for production of project records.

• Address and resolve warranty items for previous clients in an expedient manner

• Collaborate with superintendent to schedule subcontractors

• Collaborate with Superintendent to review project submittals and shop drawings and secure design professional approvals

• Understand and know how to research building code requirements.

• Plan and perform quarterly reviews of field personnel and superintendents.

• Be fluent and comfortable in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Outlook

• Other duties or activities that may be required to accomplish the job purpose.
